Stirling Moss drifts his 1958 Maserati 300S up a mountain road corner.
A brilliant driver in a splendid car.

The Maserati brothers mad racing cars starting in the 1920’s.
That was their business, blisteringly fast race cars. Maserati won every kind of race in Europe and in the U.S., they even won the Indianapolis 500. In the 1950’s, a well heeled enthusiast could buy a Maserati Formula One or sports racer with a 4, 6 or 8 cylinders, from 150 to 400 horsepower. All the cars had classic double overhead camshaft engines, tubular frames, enormous brakes, wire wheels and bodies hand pounded out of thin aluminum —usually red.
This car is a 300S sports racer witha snarling DOHC six cylinder in a great body built by Fantuzzi, one of many small body builders. In the 1950’s, Maserati started building cars for street use.   Maserati builds fantastic grand touring cars today.

Stirling Moss is one of the great names in automobile racing. His combination of toughness, aggressiveness and smoothness have earned him a remarkable number of victories in many makes of car, on many tracks —he is a master.   He is perhaps best known for his victory in the Italian Mille Miglia driving a Mercedes Benz 300 SLR with co-pilot Dennis Jenkins.

“Trident” is a tribute to Moss and the great Maserati. It is an investment cast bronze sculpture.
